Spider-Noir has been canceled by Prime Video after one season, ending Nicolas Cage’s live-action Marvel series after its eight-episode first season. Here’s what happened, why Season 2 is not moving forward, who starred in the series, and where you can still watch Spider-Noir.
Is Spider-Noir Canceled?
Yes. Spider-Noir has officially been canceled after Season 1, meaning Prime Video will not move forward with a second season.
The cancellation was reported on September 4, 2026, only a few months after the series premiered. The decision came as a surprise to fans, particularly because Spider-Noir received 11 Emmy nominations for the 2026 awards.
Despite the show’s attention and awards recognition, Prime Video has decided not to order a second season.

Why Was Spider-Noir Canceled?
Prime Video has not announced an official detailed reason for canceling Spider-Noir.
The decision is notable because the series attracted considerable attention and received 11 Emmy nominations. That made the cancellation unexpected for viewers who had hoped to see Nicolas Cage continue as Ben Reilly.
There have been reports and speculation surrounding the production’s high costs, but Prime Video has not officially confirmed production costs as the reason for the cancellation.
For now, the safest conclusion is that the exact reason remains undisclosed.
Will There Be a Spider-Noir Season 2?
No. Spider-Noir Season 2 is not happening on Prime Video.
Before the cancellation, viewers were already searching for information about a possible second season and a potential Spider-Noir Season 2 release date.
Those plans have now ended.
There is currently no Spider-Noir Season 2 release date, and Prime Video has not announced plans to revive the series for another season.
What Was Spider-Noir About?
Spider-Noir follows Ben Reilly, an aging private investigator and former superhero living in an alternate version of 1930s New York.
After a new case pulls him back into a dangerous world he thought he had left behind, Ben is forced to confront his past as The Spider.
The series combines superhero mythology with classic detective noir, giving the Spider-Man universe a darker and more mature setting.
The story features mobsters, monsters, and a mysterious femme fatale as Ben becomes increasingly drawn back toward his former life.
Spider-Noir Cast
The main Spider-Noir cast includes:
- Nicolas Cage as Ben Reilly / The Spider
- Lamorne Morris as Robbie Robertson
- Li Jun Li as Cat Hardy
- Karen Rodriguez as Janet Ruiz
- Abraham Popoola as Lonnie Lincoln
- Jack Huston as Flint Marko
- Brendan Gleeson as Silvermane
Nicolas Cage leads the series as Ben Reilly, giving the actor a central live-action role in the Spider-Man universe.
Cage’s involvement was also one of the show’s biggest attractions, especially because he had previously voiced Spider-Man Noir in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
Who Does Nicolas Cage Play in Spider-Noir?
Nicolas Cage plays Ben Reilly, also known as The Spider.
This version of the character exists in an alternate 1930s New York and is very different from the traditional Peter Parker version of Spider-Man.
The noir setting allowed the series to develop a separate interpretation of the Spider-Man mythology, centered on an older and more troubled version of the character.
Cage had previously voiced Spider-Man Noir in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, making Spider-Noir another major connection between the actor and the character.
When Was Spider-Noir Released?
Spider-Noir premiered in May 2026.
The series debuted on MGM+ in the United States on May 25, 2026, before arriving on Prime Video on May 27, 2026.
The first season contains eight episodes.
Although the series has now been canceled, all eight episodes remain available to viewers.
Where to Watch Spider-Noir
You can still watch Spider-Noir Season 1 on Prime Video.
The complete first season is available, allowing viewers to watch all eight episodes despite the cancellation.
The series was also presented in two different visual formats: a black-and-white version designed around its classic noir aesthetic and a full-color version.
You can watch the series through the official Spider-Noir Prime Video page.
Spider-Noir Season 2 Status
For viewers searching for the latest Spider-Noir Season 2 update, the status is now clear:
Spider-Noir Season 2: Canceled
Season 1: 8 episodes
Premiere: May 2026
Platform: Prime Video / MGM+
Lead star: Nicolas Cage
Character: Ben Reilly / The Spider
Season 2 release date: None
Prime Video has not announced any plans to continue the series with another season.
What Happens to Spider-Noir After the Cancellation?
The cancellation of Spider-Noir does not necessarily mean that Sony and Amazon MGM have abandoned their wider plans for Marvel-related television projects.
Other projects connected to Sony’s Marvel universe can still move forward independently of Spider-Noir.
For fans, that means the cancellation ends Nicolas Cage’s Spider-Noir story on Prime Video, but it does not necessarily represent the end of Spider-Man-related television projects from Sony and its partners.
Will Nicolas Cage Return as Spider-Man Noir?
There is currently no confirmed plan for Nicolas Cage to return as Ben Reilly in a second season of Spider-Noir.
The cancellation means there will be no continuation of the Prime Video series unless the project is revived or moved to another platform in the future.
At the moment, no such revival has been officially announced.
Final Thoughts
Spider-Noir has been canceled after one season on Prime Video, bringing Nicolas Cage’s live-action Marvel series to an early end.
The cancellation is particularly surprising because the series received 11 Emmy nominations and generated significant attention following its May 2026 premiere.
However, Prime Video has decided not to order Season 2, and there is currently no release date or confirmed plan for a continuation.
For now, fans can still watch all eight episodes of Season 1 on Prime Video.
