The Rainmaker Season 2: Release Date, Cast, Trailer and Episode Schedule

Rudy Baylor is going back to court.

After a first season packed with courtroom battles, personal drama, and a very big legal victory, The Rainmaker is returning for Season 2. USA Network has released the first trailer and confirmed when the new episodes will arrive.

Milo Callaghan is back as Rudy, alongside Lana Parrilla, P.J. Byrne, Madison Iseman and John Slattery. There are also several new faces joining the story, including Austin Nichols and Merle Dandridge.

Here’s everything we know about The Rainmaker Season 2 so far.

When Does The Rainmaker Season 2 Premiere?

The Rainmaker Season 2 premieres Friday, October 16, 2026, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on USA Network.

USA Network confirmed the premiere date when it released the Season 2 trailer on September 9. The new season will have 10 episodes.

So if you’ve been waiting to see what happens to Rudy after the events of Season 1, there’s not much longer to wait.

What Is The Rainmaker Season 2 About?

Rudy has already proved that he can take on a major case. Season 2, however, doesn’t look like it’s going to give him much time to relax.

The new trailer introduces another case involving a young boy named Victor, who claims he has been falsely imprisoned. Rudy starts looking into what happened, but the situation quickly becomes more complicated.

There’s also a familiar face standing on the other side of the courtroom.

Sarah Plankmore, Rudy’s former girlfriend, is back, and their professional relationship looks just as complicated as their personal history.

Meanwhile, Bruiser and Deck have their own problems to deal with. Bruiser’s ex-husband, Tom Cassidy, is also entering the picture.

According to USA Network, Rudy, Deck, and Bruiser will face both old adversaries and new ones while taking on cases where hundreds of children’s lives could be at stake.

That gives Season 2 a slightly different setup while keeping the courtroom drama at the center of the show.

Who Is in The Rainmaker Season 2 Cast?

The main cast is returning for another round.

  • Milo Callaghan as Rudy Baylor
  • Lana Parrilla as Jocelyn “Bruiser” Stone
  • P.J. Byrne as Deck Shifflet
  • Madison Iseman as Sarah Plankmore
  • John Slattery as Leo Drummond
  • Karen Bryson as Dot Black

There are also several new additions to the cast.

Austin Nichols joins as Tom Cassidy, Bruiser’s ex-husband. Merle Dandridge plays attorney Amanda Vonn, while Richard Kind plays Larry Shifflet, Deck’s father.

The new season also includes Kevin Ryan as Liam Donnelly and Asher DeLand as Victor Suffredes.

With all those characters coming into Rudy’s world, his next case probably won’t be a simple one.

Is There a Trailer for The Rainmaker Season 2?

Yes. The official Season 2 trailer was released on September 9, 2026.

The preview starts with Rudy celebrating the huge legal victory he achieved in Season 1. Bruiser reminds him that he should enjoy the moment, but Deck is quick to point out that winning a case doesn’t necessarily mean getting rich.

Then Rudy gets pulled into his next case.

The trailer gives us a first look at Victor’s story, Sarah’s return as Rudy’s opponent, and the new problems facing Bruiser. It also brings back several familiar faces from the first season.

You can watch the official trailer on USA Network.

Where Can You Watch The Rainmaker Season 2?

In the United States, Season 2 will air on USA Network, with the premiere scheduled for 10 p.m. ET/PT on October 16.

The series is also associated with Peacock for streaming, so viewers should check Peacock for availability around the broadcast schedule.

For viewers outside the U.S., the streaming service can vary by country. It’s worth checking local listings closer to the premiere.

You can also find official series information through USA Network’s The Rainmaker page.

Do You Need to Watch Season 1 First?

I’d recommend it.

You could probably understand the basic setup of Season 2 without remembering every detail from the first season, but the characters have a lot of history together.

Rudy’s relationship with Sarah is important, Leo Drummond is still around, and Bruiser and Deck remain a big part of his professional life.

The show is also based on John Grisham’s 1995 novel, although the television adaptation has made some changes to the source material. It’s not simply a remake of the 1997 movie starring Matt Damon.

So if you haven’t watched Season 1 yet, starting there is probably the better option.

What Can We Expect From Season 2?

The trailer suggests that Rudy is becoming more confident, but that doesn’t mean his cases are getting any easier.

The Victor storyline appears to put him against people with considerably more power, while Sarah’s return adds another layer to the courtroom drama.

Then there’s Bruiser’s personal situation with Tom Cassidy, which gives the season a storyline outside Rudy’s main case.

That’s probably a good thing. Rather than simply repeating the first season, The Rainmaker seems to be expanding the world around its main characters.

Rudy has already shown that he can win a major case.

Now we’ll see what happens when the next one comes along.

Final Thoughts

The Rainmaker Season 2 now has a confirmed October 16, 2026 premiere, a new trailer, 10 episodes, and a mix of returning characters and new faces.

The story also looks promising. Rudy is more experienced than he was when the series began, but his next case could be just as difficult — if not more complicated.

For fans of legal dramas and John Grisham adaptations, Season 2 is definitely one to keep an eye on.

The Rainmaker Season 2 premieres October 16, 2026, on USA Network.
